Written Goals

Do you love podcasts? Me too. Although I’m a little late to the game in realizing how informative and uplifting they can be. I’ve been listening to Awesome with Alison and she recently quoted her dad… “A goal not written is only a wish. If its to be, it’s up to me!”. This resinated with… Continue reading Written Goals

Microcephaly + Jesus

Microcephaly. Do you know what it is? Or even heard of it? It almost sounds like it could be a type of STD, right? Well it’s not. It’s a medical condition where the brain doesn’t develop properly and our son has it. He’ll be two in April but developmentally is around 3-4 months old. Our… Continue reading Microcephaly + Jesus

Rainbow Roundup

Who loves a good rainbow decoration, pattern or accessory? My daughters are obsessed with rainbows (and unicorns) and I consider it a perk to being a mom to girls. In fact, when my oldest was opening her presents on her fourth birthday she informed me she wanted a rainbow+unicorn themed party the following year. We… Continue reading Rainbow Roundup

I’m so tickled with this new garland I found at the wholesale store I worked at my senior year of high school. I like it so much I’m going back for more. If you’re looking for a sweet printable, I downloaded this one and one other from @laybabylay. It’s vintage and colorful- my two favorite design elements.
I couldn’t be more excited about my new Christmas decor I found it on FB Market for only $12! I walked outside to the other side of the street three different times just to look at it last night. I love vintage Christmas decor! What’s your favorite holiday item?
You know when you go shopping for something very specific you can never find it? But when it’s the last thing on your mind you suddenly see it?! That’s what happened with this rug! I was at @southernskyoutlet the other day for work when I saw this beauty and it won me over at $99. I always start with the rug and some find it weird to put rugs on carpet but let me tell you all the “stuff” this rug is hiding... it’s a great way to save your carpet. Because last I checked it was more expensive to replace carpet than a rug. #tipoftheday
Yesterday I had a doctor tell me my son was likely to die if I didn’t give him the flu vaccine. I’m still pretty upset with myself that I didn’t call her out on it. Immediately following I went to Walmart to get just a few things and they don’t offer hand baskets. Do you know how impossible it is to grab just a few things while pushing a wheelchair? Yes, it’s different than a stroller because it doesn’t have hidden compartments. All this lead to me having a bit of a breakdown in Walmart. For a moment it felt like the “man” was working against me. 🔅 Inclusion is important and small things matter... Kindness matters. Forgiveness matters. Love matters. Homes matter. Memories matter. And apparently hand baskets matter. (I’m talking to you Walmart!!) 🔅 I’ve since been given a sweet gift of a rolling cart to keep in my car but would love to see any other wheelchair hacks out there!
Happy Friday! See this quilt? I found it in Knoxville and it will always be my favorite find. I almost held onto for myself and I still wish I had- but it was perfect for this quest room in the WV cabin I designed this summer. In fact, on the wall you can’t see I hung vintage shutters In the same color green that’s in the quilt. 🔅 Do you love to antique shop? What’s been your favorite find?! I’m always on the hunt for vintage Pyrex!
It’s still November which means it’s still #nationaladoptionmonth! There’s so many things I could say about adoption but one thing I still hear that makes my skin crawl is... “gave up her baby”. The correct term is ”placed her baby...” 🔅 I don’t know all the reasons why some choose adoption but from my experience - what I do know, it wasn’t a decision made lightly. It was a decision made to give the baby a home with two parents and a chance to have more opportunities. It has nothing to do with giving up but has everything to do with love! 🔅 We’re lucky enough to know our birth mom closely and lovingly call her Tummy Mummy. 🔅 What other things would you like to learn about adoption? #adoptionrocks
I don’t normally surf through IG by means of hashtags. But when I do, I find some good stuff soooo I want to know your favorite hashtags. Preferably related to home design, realistic DIYs and affordable design options. One of my favorites is #colorismyjam.
We’ve been sick in this house which means all housework was neglected. Before I could play catch-up on work, I had to show some love to my home. I even put up Thanksgiving decor. 🔅I realized that being a mom 80% (maybe even 100%) of my time is spent making memories. Good or bad. The little paper figures on my mantle were from my childhood and they spark happy memories for me every year I pull them out. Which is my biggest ‘why’ to holiday decorating- hoping it will do the same for my kids one day.
Did your kids have school today? I was surprised to find out mine didn’t just yesterday. So all that house work and work work I was hoping to catch up on will have to wait another day. At least my Halloween decor is down and now my Thanksgiving decor can go up. Do you decorate for the holidays?! What’s your favorite? 🔅 Clearly this photo has nothing to do with holiday decor but I wanted to share in hopes to motivate myself to finish up a few minor details to help if feel complete.
